Why do you have to go after religion? Bernie Edwards-Chic

Can’t believe there isn’t a “bernie edwards” tag on Tumblr, so I’ll inaugurate one here.

Bernie Edwards was the bassist with 70’s disco hit makers, “Chic” along side Nile Rodgers, Tony Thompson with singers Alfa Anderson & Luci Martin.

Edward’s thumping basslines were prominent throughout the band’s music, such as “Good times” “Dance dance dance” & in the masssive hit “Le Freak”.

It was his bass line in “good times” which was heavily sampled in the Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight”, which helped shape hip-hop & utlimately modern rap.

After the split of Chic, Edwards worked as a producer until his tragic death from pneumonia in 1996.
